CCI Industrial Constructors Completes Civil/Concrete & Structural Packages For Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility
Brighton, MI (October 30, 2023)—CCI Industrial Constructors, a self-performing general contractor, announced today it has completed the concrete and structural construction of a new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility at a local landfill in Riverview, Michigan. The new facility was constructed in an effort to reduce emissions and increase gas distribution for the city of Riverview.
Leaving waste to decompose naturally on the landfill releases methane directly into the atmosphere. By installing this new LFG processing facility, the landfill can capture the gas instead, reducing the landfills overall greenhouse gas footprint, and provides the city with another revenue stream, and helps to create clean, sustainable fuel that displaces fossil-based fuels.
“This has been a very exciting project to be a part of as we continue to grow our civil/concrete division here at CCI,” said Brad Musolf, Civil/Concrete Division Manager at CCI Industrial Constructors. “Converting waste to RNG is a win-win, both for local landfills and the local environment, and we’re proud of our direct contribution towards delivering solutions for new clean energy infrastructure for the city of Riverview.”
The 11-month long project, which is still slated to be completed in December, included multiple phases. The first phase included concrete construction, where over 40 foundations were placed for equipment requiring over 500 tons of rebar and 4,000 yards of concrete. The other phases included excavation for underground site utilities, site civil maintenance upgrades and building foundations, structural steel erection and slab-on-grade. The final work package included the H2S VAV underground piping and tie-in. New HDPE underground piping, sump and encasement and above ground stainless steel piping was installed. Tie-in was performed in accordance with the owner specifications and OEM requirements was safe execution.
CCI Industrial Constructors launched its Civil/Concrete division earlier this year with the additional hire of Musolf. Since then, additional team members have been brought on and new capital investments in equipment is ongoing. Additionally, the expansion has opened the door to new clients such as BASF, Nextera Energy and Qualus to name a few.
