In 1995, Robert L. Garcia pursued his lifelong dream of starting a business. Robert founded Commercial Welding & Maintenance with one welding truck performing specialized welding and repair work while also working his day job as a Millwright. Through hard work and perseverance, Robert received his first automotive contract installing machinery and tooling. It was through his extensive experience and reputation for leading successful projects that he was able to secure the contract.
Over 25 years later, due to exceptional growth and rising opportunities CCI has evolved into a full-service contractor offering comprehensive services, including: Industrial Construction, Civil/Concrete, Machinery Installation, Heavy Rigging, Steel Erection & Industrial Maintenance.
As of 2024, company leadership has transitioned into the next generation of Garcia’s. Commercial Welding & Maintenance (CWM) is founded by Robert L. Garcia with one welding truck. CWM performed small welding and fabrication projects throughout metro Detroit as a mobile welding company.
CWM receives first contract in the automotive industry installing machinery and tooling at Ford Motor Company. The project would be a stepping stone which helped leverage CWM to be a key installer on future projects.
CWM rebrands the company forming Commercial Construction Incorporated (CCI). Based on customer demand and rising opportunities, CCI now offers full-service machinery moving & installation, heavy rigging, millwright services, certified welding & structural repairs/reinforcing.
Prior to becoming an onsite maintenance and construction contractor, CCI performed small maintenance and repair projects across several generating stations. Today, CCI performs new capital construction, daily maintenance and critical shutdown & outage services throughout Michigan.
CCI’s reputation has been built around taking on critical projects that are dirty, difficult and critical to plant operations. Industrial clients continue to reply on CCI for daily maintenance needs.
Due to rising opportunities, CCI diversifies into the water/wastewater industry. Backed by an experienced team, CCI performs sluice gate, pump & motor and conveyor system installations throughout various plants in metro-Detroit.
Through quality work and a dedicated workforce, CCI has become a key player in the manufacturing space. Over 70% of manufacturing business comes from repeat customers.
CCI builds a new Power Plant in Battle Creek, Michigan for the VA Hospital. The new cogeneration power plant is fueled by wood chips as renewable fuel. The result is a reduction in greenhouse gases and a more efficient power supply for the hospital.
DTE contracted with CCI to build a Reduced Emissions Fuel (REF) System at the Monroe Power Plant. The system employs a proprietary process that treats coal prior to combustion, improving efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions for coal fired units.
Toebe selects CCI to work on the heaviest bascule bridge in the world. Weighing in at 8.2 million pounds, the bridge is the second largest by deck area at over 15,000 square feet. CCI installed the complete mechanical drive system that raises and lowers the bridge.
CCI’s installation team consistently performs critical re-tooling and new installation projects for the automotive industry. With key industry experience, CCI is completing projects throughout Michigan and Midwest for multiple leading automotive suppliers.
Air Products and Chemical’s selects CCI to design & build a new compressor enclosure at the Detroit Marathon Refinery. Based on key partnerships, quality-driven processes and people, CCI delivers a comprehensive building solution.
CCI celebrates 25 years of consistently delivering quality projects. Through hard work and a dedicated team, CCI has built long-term relationships for some of the largest utilities, manufacturers and tier suppliers in Michigan. CCI will continue those relationships under a new name, rebranding from Commercial Construction Incorporated to CCI Industrial Constructors in July of 2022.
CCI completes the civil / concrete and structural construction of a new Landfill-To-RNG Facility, placing over 4,000 yards of concrete and erecting two metal buildings.
