Feed Conveyor & Industrial Shredder
Upgrade
Industry: Manufacturing

PROJECTS
Scope of Work
CCI Industrial Constructors millwright/rigging team was contracted to provide conveyor upgrades for our manufacturing client in Detroit, Michigan. Our client is a leading Tier-1 metal stamping manufacturer providing parts from galvanized, cold rolled, high strength, stainless steel, aluminum and tailor welded materials.
The manufacturing operation includes a scrap conveyor system specifically engineered for stamping scrap, slugs, trim and chips. The system reduces shop-floor cleanup, enhances safety and helps elevating and unloading metal scrap into bins or loaders. Due to the sheer volume and standard wear on the system, a new shredder system and feed conveyor modifications were required. In order to effectively complete the upgrades, a planned shutdown was required to reduce the overall downtime. Prior to the shutdown, CCI’s team stagged the new equipment, completed any pull-ahead activities and pre-assembled components to optimized the shutdown schedule.
The scope of work included a new steel conveyor belt replacement on the feed conveyor, a platform extension and installation of an upgraded industrial shredder. Part of the installation was completed with CCI’s 75-ton mobilift, offering greater control of the load and the most cost-effective approach. As conveyor specialists, our teams perform several critical process conveyor and bulk handling conveyor upgrades for a wide-range of clients. With specialty equipment, tools and industry leaders, we offered our client a turnkey solution with proven performance. Our crew delivered the project ahead of schedule with zero safety incidents, helping our client achieve their operational goals on time and on budget.
