PROJECTS

Scope of Work

The Reduced Emissions Fuel (REF) System is an environmental initiative to improve efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions for coal fired units. CCI was awarded the capital upgrade to perform the turnkey mechanical installation of the new REF System at the Monroe Power Plant.

CCI served as the turnkey mechanical contractor acting as the single point of contact for all self-perform trade disciplines. Our responsibilities included pre-construction coordination, offloading and installing all of the equipment, conveyors & components and structural steel associated with the new system. Based on the design and weight of the conveyor trusses, two 300-ton cranes were required to make the critical lifts and set into the final location.

The execution team delivered the project working six days a week for five months with zero near misses or injuries. In addition, throughout the duration of the project, over 50 local construction jobs were created and all equipment & materials were sourced through Michigan-based vendors.
