Scope of Work
DTE selected CCI to construct a new storage yard and access road at the Blue Water Energy Center. Our team has completed several projects at the Blue Water facility, contributing to our success during the selection process. The purpose for the site expansion is to support trucking deliveries, staging and laydown during routine outages and capital upgrades.
The scope of work included locating existing utilities, stripping & cutting the access road and laydown site down 15”, installation of catch basins & manholes, placement of 10” of 21AA base aggregate, placement of 3.5” of MDOT 3EML leveling coarse and 1.5” of MDOT 4EML wearing coarse asphalt. In addition, the site includes new access gates and fence improvements.
During the time of the project award, drawings were not 100% complete. In order to expedite the scheduled start date, CCI provided front-end value engineering & design-assist working with DTE and engineering firm. Despite the delays, the project was completed on schedule completing all paving ahead of the upcoming routine outage.
