MRF – Mechanical Install

PROJECTS

Scope of Work

Our millwright & rigging installation team assisted in the efforts of getting a new material recovery facility (MRF) up and running. CCI was contacted to provide preconstruction services including, preliminary feasibility studies associated with rigging and erecting the large and heavy components. CCI offered a detailed rigging & lifting plan prior to mobilizing, which included means and methods for offloading, traveling, hoisting & final setting the components.

In order to safely install the equipment, multiple pieces of heavy machinery were required. CCI’s company owned equipment included a 40/60 rig-n-lift, 80,000 lb. rigger lift, IC-200 broderson crane and specialty hoisting/jacking/skating rigging. In addition, a 75-ton mobilift was utilized to assist with the tandem lifts. This particular section of the plant was the front of line, which sorts various types of material to the desired size for all the sorting streams down the conveyor line. The MRF employs ballistic screens, sorters and automation to sort a wide array of reusable resources such as wood, paper, cardboard and plastics.

The project team worked closely with our customer and the end user on all safety and tolerance requirements. Overall, the project was executed according to plan and on schedule. When the system is fully operational, the site will sort and prepare recyclable material for resale/reuse and ensure that scarce resources are recovered. Thus, diverting them from landfills and creating a more sustainable environment.
