PROJECTS
Scope of Work
Our aerospace client began an expansion and relocation program in 2018 with the goal of decommissioning an existing plant and relocating machinery to their new plant. Our millwright and rigging team was contracted to perform multiple installation and relocation projects across two plants in Michigan and one plant in Mexico. The plants operate the research and development as well as the repair and overhaul operations of gas turbine engines for the defense and commercial markets.
Key projects included the relocation of a 120,000 lb. hydroformer press from Walled Lake, MI to Guaymas, MX, installation of VTL lines and installation of CNC machining lines. Due to the location of the existing hydroformer, it was required that the press be removed through the roof. Our team managed the front-end engineering developing an engineered rigging plan and fabricating a special lifting beam. Based on the weight and boom radius, a 500-ton crane was required to remove the press. Upon removal, the press was loaded on an 8-axle trailer and shipped to Mexico for reinstallation and commissioning.
Based on our quality work and experience responding to challenges, our team continues to provide machinery moving and installation services for other plant projects. Our ability to offer company owned specialty rigging, equipment and experienced leadership allows us to effectively manage and control the projects with safety at the forefront.
