Scope of Work

CCI’s self-perform civil division partnered with multiple contractors supporting installation of critical infrastructure for the Public Health & Environmental Science Lab in Dimondale, Michigan. The new 300,000 square foot facility will house consolidated lab space for the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. The facility will expand upon and enable testing and other laboratory functions in a safe, secure environment designed to promote efficiency, collaboration, and innovations.

The scope of work included multiple scope packages for electrical, plumbing and piping. The electrical package included excavation and backfill for service power, temporary power, and duct banks, excavation of 4,500 lin-ft of site lighting conduit and excavation and installation of pre-cast site light poles. The plumbing package included excavation and backfill of 10,000 lin-ft for PVC, HDPE and Ductile Iron Pipe installation, excavation and installation of (4) deep HDPE sumps and excavation of gas piping. The piping package included, excavation of 300’ for deep underground ice-cold water piping, mass excavation of 6,500 sq/ft. x 8’-0 deep pit for the ice tank storage units and site grading/restoration.

The approximately 11-month project was completed ahead of schedule with zero incidents or downtime. In addition, throughout the project CCI supported additional work for the Construction Manager and other trade contractors. Our crews adapted to the daily adjustments with staffing and equipment resources, allowing other contractors to effectively perform their tasks and stay on schedule. With company-owned specialty equipment and industry leaders, we offered our clients a turnkey solution with responsive services.
